Educating Children for 40 Years
Montessori Centres is the first Montessori school that is still operating in the state of Indiana -- was started in 1966 by Evelyn Froehlich. She became interested in the Montessori Method as an educational option for her daughter, Annette, who has Downs syndrome. Mrs. Froehlich earned her certification in Montessori education from St. Nicholas of London in 1967. Upon Mrs. Froehlich's retirement, her daughter, Lynn Froehlich-Boone, took over the reins at Montessori Centres. Mrs. Boone has been the directress of the school since 1986.
Montessori Centres was located at North United Methodist Church until 1984 when it relocated to its present location.
